How it works
As well as counselling/psychotherapy, I use various tools and techniques from other therapies to give a more comprehensive treatment and more effective outcome. These elements work beautifully together with talking therapy, to treat mind, body and soul.
Counselling/Psychotherapy

" A problem shared is a problem halved"

There are many different models of counselling, and these can all help. Talking therapies assist by looking at past or current issues that are unresolved and causing stress, anxiety, depression, confusion, fatigue, pain, low self esteem, self defeating behaviors, or ill health. Talking can help by exploring how beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and behavior all impact on each other. Various tools and techniques can be used to assist someone to develop new perspectives, new ways of coping with problems, raise self esteem and confidence, and restore harmony to the mind and body. Just sharing a problem and being able to off-load concerns can be beneficial, but of course counselling can offer much more than that. Psychotherapy deals with more complex mental health issues but works in the same way.
Sound
Everything has a vibration and frequency including humans. Sound creates vibration which affects us on a deep level. Different sounds have different frequencies which affect various parts of our body, as well as our mind. We can bring our bodies back into a more balanced and harmonious state by using sound frequencies. Sound can calm and sooth the mind, aid relaxation, reduce stress, and has been shown to have a positive impact on both mental and physical health.

Somatic work
Somatic work involves moving the body in certain ways that benefit body and mind. These movements can reduce cortisol levels thereby reducing stress, promoting relaxation, improving energy levels, and helping rid toxicity from the body. They help to release trapped emotions and memories stored in the body, which in turn eases the mind.
Nature
Nature has so many benefits to both mind and body health. It opens our senses, promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and boosts immune function,
When we walk in nature it has the added benefit of fresh air, light, and physical exercise. It is not as confining as in room therapy and can allow more freedom of speech.
Connecting with nature also puts us back in tune with our natural rhythms

Breathwork
Correct breathing and various breathing exercises can aid us in many ways. Breathwork affects our nervous system, triggering the relaxation response, reducing stress, anxiety and depression. It allows the mind and body to be in more balanced state which promotes good health.
Energy work
Everything is energy. If we keep our energy flowing then we will remain in a balanced and harmonious state. Just like water can become stagnant, we can also become blocked by our negative emotions, stress, and trauma. When the flow of energy is disrupted in causes disharmony. Energy work can restore the energy flow in order that harmony can be restored to mind and body.

"A river that flows never gets stagnant"
